The City of Port Coquitlam
The City of Port Coquitlam’s new Sports Hall of Fame will preserve the city’s sports heritage, celebrate the city’s community pride, and inspire young athletes to aspire to athletic ambitions. Located within the lobby of the Hyde Creek Recreation Centre, this exhibit will be comprised of a multi-touch touch table and associated wall graphic. Visitors will gather around to explore stories of Hall of Fame inductees, as well as rising stars, elite athletes, and community volunteers. In 2021, the exhibit will move to a permanent location in the new Port Coquitlam Recreation Centre.
The Hall of Fame will be a dynamic visual representation of Port Coquitlam’s athletic community. The goal is not to communicate as many stats and figures as possible, but to hook visitor interest through engaging presentation of facts, photos, and personal stories. The exhibit will emphasize bite size trivia, fun facts, catchy headlines, and attractive visuals. An updateable content management system will allow for maximum flexibility to update and add to content.
The exhibit is funded by the BC | Canada 150 grant and the City of Port Coquitlam. Project partners include the Port Coquitlam Sport Alliance and the Port Coquitlam Heritage Society.
