A historic Canadian landmark situated in the rolling grandeur of Cypress Hills, Saskatchewan, Fort Walsh was a terminus and headquarters for the newly-formed Northwest Mounted Police (NWMP) during their legendary march west in the 19th Century. It was in Fort Walsh where Canada’s iconic police force set up, policing rotgut whiskey runners, patrolling the border and negotiating with First Nations peoples.
Today, visitors to Fort Walsh step back in time to explore the origins of Canada’s Mounties, the area’s importance during the Battle of Little Bighorn and the tragedy of the Cypress Hills Massacre. NGX teamed with AldrichPears Associates to bring Fort Walsh’s history to life. The Fort’s dramatic past can now be experienced through an evocative exhibit space that features spoken and ambient audio and interactive touch screen exhibits, introducing visitors to the region’s compelling characters, events and narratives.
