An Augmented Reality Experience

Craigdarroch Castle

National Association for Interpretation – Digital Media Award – Augmented Reality

At Craigdarroch Castle, visitors can step back in time to the Victorian Era. NGX developed an Augmented Reality (AR) app for the castle that engages visitors with a deeper level of content that would not be possible with large interpretive panels or touch screen kiosks in the meticulously restored space.

This technology solution was simply the modern vehicle in which to tell the Victorian Era stories, which are the core of the experience at Craigdarroch. Through the narrative themes of Architecture, Gender, and Class, visitors are guided through the Castle by historic characters, and experience the riveting stories of the objects, rooms, and events that have shaped Craigdarroch. By leveraging the storytelling potential of AR, the dramatic history of the castle truly comes alive.

“It was a pleasure working with the team who were open and collaborative during all phases of the development and implementation process. I am very impressed with the way NGX approached this project, highly recommend their services and look forward to working with them again.. ”
