Urban Ecosystems: An interactive experiment

Montreal Biosphere
Projection mapped multi-player game

Quebec, Canada

Overview

Working closely with our partners, ngx created an ambitious multi-player interactive that explores how urban ecosystems function. Young visitors collaborate to enhance the city’s resilience, while impacts of their real-time decisions are mapped onto a 3D projected model of Montreal.

Each visitor’s unique behaviour is tracked, which allows the Biosphere team to adjust and adapt the interactive stations in ways that make deeper connections for future visitor journeys.

Scope Highlights

  • Visitor Recognition
  • Projection Mapping
  • Concept Design
  • Game Design
  • Custom Software

Urban Ecosystems

At the “Urban Ecosystem” table, visitors use a tablet to take on a challenge related to Montreal’s urban ecosystem. Visitors choose from multiple scenarios to explore how our choices affect communities. As an opt-in experience, visitors are invited to use an RFID tag during their visit. The RFID tag allows users to “check in” at various stations, collect badges for their participation, and personalize their experience.
