SeaWorld Yas Island

Journey to the depths

Abu Dhabi, UAE

Overview

SeaWorld Abu Dhabi is the world’s largest aquarium. The Park showcases a cross-section of the world's marine ecosystems, offering immersive experiences and vibrant underwater environments that house diverse species together, as in their home oceans. SeaWorld Abu Dhabi also integrates a knowledge hub and rescue centre to drive research and conservation efforts in the region from its base at Yas Island.

Scope Highlights

  • Camera tracking
  • Mixed reality
  • Animation
  • Gameplay design
  • Projection mapping
  • Dynamic sound

In collaboration with SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, ngx produced site-wide digital augmentation for the region’s first marine life theme park. 71 media experiences support a dynamic shift away from 20th century models of an aquarium.

Responsive spaces, projection mapping, physical/digital integration, augmented reality headsets, interactive stations, beautiful animation, and immersive sound design combine to create a cohesive site-wide activation.

We coordinated closely with Miral and our set-works parter, Adirondack Studios, to ensure seamless integration with the broader vision, particularly with regards to physical fabrication.

The result is engaging, inviting, and playful site-wide activations that engage the imagination and cultivate a sense of wonder for the underwater world and the broader richness of Earth’s biomes.

We are incredibly thankful to our partners on this project: SeaWorld Abu Dhabi (UAE), Miral (UAE), EllisDon (Can), ALEC (UAE), PGAV (US), Holovis (US), Adirondack Studios (US)
