TELUS World of Science – Arctic gallery
A multitude of exhibit types highlight geography, ecology, and culture
Edmonton, Canada

Overview
Within the Arctic Gallery—the largest permanent exhibit at Telus World of Science Edmonton (TWOSE)—guests experience how the dramatic Arctic seasons change over an entire year. We designed interactive and immersive experiences to showcase the geography and ecology of the region, and celebrate Arctic peoples and their culture. ngx worked closely with the science centre, an Indigenous Advisory Circle, as well as a Scientific Advisory Committee to develop the materials.

Science for a Family Audience
A key element of this project was to create exhibits that are highly approachable for audiences of all ages. Storytelling, including from Indigenous perspectives, was weaved throughout the experience.
We incorporated artwork, animations, large datasets, and more into a variety of exhibit types—immersive games, interactive maps, captivating soundscapes, and engaging visuals. We navigated the challenge of translating complex scientific concepts and data into exhibits that leave a lasting impression on visitors of all ages.

Throughout the space, guests experience a year in the Arctic, following the region’s dramatic seasonal changes. The gallery harnesses interactive and immersive experiences to showcase the geography, ecology, and biology of the Arctic, and celebrate its ancestral peoples and culture.
