Overview

Visitors step into Nevada’s ancient past—unto landscapes where mammoths, sabre-toothed cats, and giant ground sloths once roamed—at Ice Age Fossils State Park. Opened in early 2024, the visitor building offers a striking contrast to the region’s typical attractions, just 20 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip.

A Las Vegas Time Machine

A sweeping looping animation projected across an angled wall, anchors the gallery and transports visitors to a greener Las Vegas and Nevada of 21,000 years ago.

Other exhibits spark curiosity and imagination, including a digital flipbook that reveals scientists’ field notes from the 1960s, and an interactive game that invites visitors to think like paleontologists—asking how fossils are identified, dated, and interpreted to reconstruct extinct lives.
