A playful take on history

Maison Doiron
Self-guided 3D tablet tour

Dieppe, Canada

Overview

Built in 1841, Maison Doiron is a historic home in Dieppe, New Brunswick. For this project, we developed a tablet-based tour that brings the house to life through a playful host named Guy, a slightly stodgy book with plenty to say. As he opens up, so does the story of the home.

Through character-driven narration and light, interactive moments, the tour animates each room and invites visitors to explore at their own pace in either French or English. The tone leans toward delight and discovery, creating a memorable visit that entertains as much as it informs.

Scope Highlights

  • Interactive 3D floor plan

  • Photobooth Experience

Multi-layer Interactivity

The tablet tour for Maison Doiron provides a rich multimedia experience that includes an interactive dollhouse Maquette, a responsive 3D floorplan, an interactive timeline, a photo-booth experience for user generated content, and a visitor feedback survey. ngx created a unique visual style inspired by retro 2D illustrated graphics; this style was applied to the artwork including characters, stickers, building icons, and interface elements. The result is a tour that feels lively and approachable, deepening visitors’ connection to the heritage and significance of the house.
